How to get to the Ouzoud Falls

The Ouzoud Falls lie in the hills of Azilal Province, about 150 km northeast of Marrakech. Every route ends in the village above the falls, where the path down starts.

No bus runs straight from Marrakech. Independent travellers change grand taxis in Azilal, drive, or join one of the day tours that most visitors take.

Grand taxi from Marrakech to Ouzoud via Azilal

The cheapest way without a tour: two shared taxis, each leaving when its seats are full.

  1. Grand taxi to Azilal

    Shared grand taxis to Azilal leave from Bab Doukkala. A seat costs about MAD 50 once all six are taken.

  2. Change in Azilal

    Find a taxi for Ouzoud: about MAD 25 a seat, or about MAD 150 if you hire the whole car.

  3. Get out at the top of the falls

    The taxi stops in the village above the falls, near the official entrance where the path down begins.

  4. Plan the way back

    The round trip comes to about 300 MAD per person and most of the day. Ask at a riad in Ouzoud for the current times back.

From the Ouzoud entrance to the foot of the falls

One path leads down and a second climbs back up the far side, so the walk makes a loop.

  1. Viewpoints by the entrance

    Look over the drop from the terraces above the main fall, keeping back from the edge.

  2. Down the path to the pools

    Take the left path downhill: steps and a paved lane past cafés and stalls.

  3. Rafts at the first pool

    The boatmen wait at the first pool for the short ride towards the falls.

  4. Back up the other side

    Cross over and climb the dirt trail above the falls, with one steep stretch. Wear proper shoes.

Driving, the bus via Beni Mellal and day tours

By car: about 157 km from Marrakech, roughly 2.5 hours, on the N8 northeast and then the R208 through Tanant. Several car parks sit above the falls; attendants charge 10–20 MAD for the day.

By bus: CTM, Supratours and local buses run from Marrakech to Beni Mellal, where you take a shared taxi to the falls. It is the slowest way and suits only a trip that takes in Beni Mellal too.

Day tours: a minibus picks you up at your Marrakech hotel and brings you back in the evening, 10 to 12 hours later. The most booked tour starts from €15, and an 8-hour trip suits a shorter day, from €12. All six tours are compared on the home page.
